Christmas in St. Louis Salutes Its Former Chairman

Christmas in St. Louis, the not-for-profit organizer of the annual AmerenUE Thanksgiving Day Parade in St. Louis, has is honoring its former Chairman, Ron Zdeller, on his retirement December 1, 2009, from his position as Vice President, Energy Delivery of AmerenUE.  Zdeller served for several years as the volunteer Chairman of Christmas in St. Louis and was instrumental in building the organization and its signature event, the parade, into a major event and attraction in St. Louis with higher local television viewership ratings last year than New York’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Board of Directors of Christmas in St. Louis wishes to recognize Ron’s hard work and commitment to both the St. Louis community and to Christmas in St. Louis by donating to the AmerenUE Dollar More program. AmerenUE Dollar More is a program that helps low income families with their energy needs.

Said John Nickel, Chairman of Christmas in St. Louis, “Ron has worked nearly 40 years to keep the lights on for families in St. Louis. In his honor, the Christmas In St. Louis Board would like to donate $500 to Dollar More so Ron’s service continues to keep the lights on.”

About The Christmas in St. Louis Organization

Founded in 1985, this 501(c)3 organization was formed for two purposes:

  1. Provide support for local youth charities
  2. Welcome in the Holiday Season by unifying many different St Louis activities (tree lighting, decorations, the Parade) and bringing in visitors to the area.

Mission Statement: Christmas in St. Louis (CISL) and the Christmas in St. Louis Foundation (Foundation) are comprehensive volunteer community-focused, non-profit organizations with distinct, yet complementary missions.

CISL is a civic organization dedicated to adding to the community’s celebration of the holiday season by coordinating Christmas lighting and decorations and thereby increasing tourism, shopping, dining and hotel usage in the St. Louis area during the holiday season.

The Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to assisting and supporting, primarily through promotion and marketing, numerous local charities during the holiday season.
