Mission Statement

Christmas in St. Louis (CISL) and the Christmas in St. Louis Foundation (Foundation) are comprehensive volunteer community-focused, non-profit organizations with distinct, yet complementary missions.

CISL is a civic organization dedicated to adding to the community’s celebration of the holiday season by coordinating Christmas lighting and decorations and thereby increasing tourism, shopping, dining and hotel usage in the St. Louis area during the holiday season.

The Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to assisting and supporting, primarily through promotion and marketing, numerous local charities during the holiday season.

Chairman's Message

We at Christmas in St Louis are proud to offer some unique activities to the St Louis community which includes:

    • A welcoming in of the Holiday Season with a Christmas tree light-up ceremony
    • Financial and Publicity Support to Smaller but deserving charities that serve children.
    • Holiday decorations for the downtown area (Kiener Plaza and Market Street)
    • The only televised Parade in the City

It takes a large and dedicated group of volunteers to create such successful events and we want to invite your family to participate in one or more of our events this year.  All activities are free of charge, open to the entire St Louis region and provide family oriented fun events to celebrate the Holiday Season.

In this region we have many things to be thankful for and on Thanksgiving Day, we are proud to offer a unique experience (in person, on TV or on the radio) to celebrate.  See your friends or neighbors in the Parade, in a Marching Band, Riding on a Float or as a "handler" of a Giant Helium Balloon; you never know who you will see.  It is a fun way to create a family tradition that happens only once a year.

Look around our web site to see the many things that will be happening and feel free to get involved.  Best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving and the start of the Holiday Season.

    Chairman's Message old

The season between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day is a wonderful time to celebrate with family, friends, and loved ones.

Every year, the Christmas in St. Louis organization is proud to support the diverse traditions and community activities planned for the holiday season in greater St. Louis. We applaud the hundreds of large and small local groups whose annual events and charitable activities encourage all St. Louisians to celebrate the holidays in their own special ways.

For more than 20 years, our non-profit, all-volunteer organization has been dedicated to promoting activities that inspire people of all faiths to show their unique holiday spirit while enhancing the texture and heritage of the St. Louis community.

This year, the popular Macy's Holiday Festival of Lights ceremony will occur Friday evening, November 20st at Kiener Plaza downtown starting at approximately 5 p.m. Special celebrity guests and Santa Claus will attend this festive tree-lighting event and celebrate the holiday season with a huge fireworks display featuring the Old Courthouse and The Gateway Arch as a backdrop.

Thanksgiving morning, the Christmas in St. Louis organization will host the 26th annual AmerenUE Thanksgiving Day Parade. Please check out the rest of our Website for additional parade details. It will be a crisp morning, but the perfect way to begin the holiday season with your family and friends.

As in past years, a portion of contributions from our sponsors and proceeds from our events will be used to present donations to at least two St. Louis family-oriented charities to help support their missions during this season of giving.

On behalf of the entire Christmas in St. Louis organization and our Underwriting Sponsor, Ameren, and all of our additional sponsors that support our mission, I wish you a Happy Holiday Season and a truly blessed New Year!
